Space Jam: A New Legacy is directed by Malcolm D. Lee and a creative dream team is bringing Warner Bros. “Space Jam” back to the big screen. This will be a animated/live-action hybrid sequel starring LeBron James.
It has been 25 years since the original Space Jam came out to the theater with iconic soundtrack! I’m even still jamming with it! I even introduced a few songs with my kids, and they like it!
In the sequel, Lebron James has to get his son back, he has to lead Toon Squad Team which includes Bugs Bunny, Daffy Ducks, and other timeless character to victory against rogue A.I. on the basketball court. In the trailer, Lebron James was transform into a 2-D Looney Tunes-style character when he was trapped in the digitized world, “Serververse”.
When it’s time for the ultimate basketball battle, James is back in his human form with the digitized version of Tweety Bird, Porky Pig, and other originals.
The game represents James’ “highest-stakes challenge of his life, that will redefine LeBron’s bond with his son and shine a light on the power of being yourself,” according to the film’s synopsis.
Based from the trailer that was dropped last Saturday, it seems to be a adrenaline-fueled, colorful, family-orientated, packed with reference from the 1996 classic Space Jam starred NBA legend Michael Jordan.
James stars alongside Oscar nominee Don Cheadle, Khris Davis, Sonequa Martin-Green and other high-powered actors.
If you know me, I’m not a fan of LeBron James at all when he is on the court. While LeBron is off the court, I have high respect for him as he is actively involved by helping youth to be successful in many different ways. Anyway, I’m interested to see how this will all unfold.
If you’re a web nerd like myself, you might really dig this! SpaceJam.com has both upcoming film website and the “retro” website when it was launched 25 years ago. This is awesome and a great tied together to help parents connect with their kids. It’s a great theme for this movie – connecting / stay connected with your kids as one aspect of it.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is coming to theaters across the US and on HBO Max for 31 days starting July 16.
