‘Bel-Air’ reboot coming to Peacock

If you grew up in the ‘90s and watched “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” starring Will Smith, you’re in a treat for the reboot treatment with a major twist.  The remake is coming back as a gritty drama.  This series already landed two-season order on major streaming service.

Bel-Air will introduce all the series’ beloved characters – Will, Ashley, Hilary, Uncle Phil, Aunt Viv, Carlton, and more.  The core plot of the series will remain the same where teenage Will moves from Philadelphia to Bel-Air to live with his wealthy family.  This time it is set in a different tone where Los Angeles doesn’t always change one’s life for the better.

Here’s the exciting part as this series will dive deeper into Will’s backstory.  This will give you the first look of Will’s life in West Philadelphia before his mother sent him to live with his family in Los Angeles.

The hour-long series is produced by The Smiths’ production company and Universal Television.  This production has been in the works for more than a year.  “With a reimagined vision, Bel-Air will dive deeper into the inherent conflicts, emotions and biases of what it means to be a Black man in America today, while still delivering the swagger and fun nods to the original show,” Deadline reported of the reboot.

This is exciting news since we see a lot what happen after Will move to Bel-Air and this will give a whole new reality look instead basing it on the comedy standpoint that we have seen in the 90s.  We will get to see the actual struggles and the strength that Will has gained as a person.

Bel-Air starring with Jabari Banks, Adrian Holmes, Cassandra Freeman, Olly Sholotan, Coco Jones, Akira Akbar, Jimmy Akingbola, Jordan L. Jones, and Simone Joy Jones.  Morgan Cooper is the Director and he will join the role as Executive producer with Will Smith, Terence Carter, James Lassiter, Miguel Melendez, Malcolm Spellman, Quincy Jones, Benny Medina, and Andy & Susan Borowitz

Bel-Air is coming on Peacock starting February 13, 2022 after Superbowl!
